Paradio 102: Activation and Triangulation

It took me two months, but now I finally played the next mission of the Paradios campaign. Sadly none of us had a camera on hand, therefore no pictures (sorry).

After winning the first one I know was up against a Nomad force, but first the lists:

In this scenario you have to activate 4 out of 5 Devices in a specific order. You only have 4 turns, to do the trick, but you neither want to shoot the enemy into retreat, not lose the model who started running around. The first one ends the game prematurely and the second one sees you picking up the loot from the dead comrade.

Well we had a board filled with desert, some buildings and a lot of containers. Some reasonable LoF where between the Deployment zones and so we started. I won the Inititative and opted for first turn (surprise here).

I had my Sophotect and the EVO in a house, the Myrmidon Officer and Deva right behind it, securing my DZ. They were halfway on my left flank. Out on my left was one Yudbot and the lurking Dasyu (in Hidden Deployment). Right in the centre were Eudoros, the Chainrifle Myrmidon, the Minesweeper and the Spitfire Deva. Out on the right was my Spitfire Myrmidon and the other Yudbot.

On the other side was an Interventor, an Warcor and a Zonbot hiding behind a wrecked vehicle. On the left flank was the Reaction Zond. Not far away lied the Clockmaker behind a crate. Between all this were five Camomarkers and an Alquacil, as well as the Transductor and Salyut Zond. The Massai infiltrated close to the center and deviated only slightly, putting his Koalas in a threatening position.

Turn 1

Eudoros ran forward an missed his grenade (with a 20), so this was not a good start. Next thing I moved my Yudvot on the right to start doing the mission. And it was shot down by the Reaction Zond, which had an awesome view from the other side of the battlefield. A LoF we both did miss during terrain placement. It alos failed with it´s task to start the sequence, while critted to death. Hmm.

So there went my plan for this flank, my only specialist dead. Great. Next was the Sweeper who tried to sweep the Koalas, he failed and was duly destroyed by the things. Eudoros marched out and shot down the Massai. At least some peace over here. On my other flank my Deva went forth to shoot the Alquacil and disvover a mine next to him. The Alquacil dodged. I also got some shots at the Interventor and missed. With my last order I took her down.

His turn. Well turns out the Interventor was the Lt. and not one of the camo markers. I felt bad at this point because I really luckily got her just out of cover.

Turn 2

Eudoros did nothing of note and my hacker ran up half the field to get the sequence starting. After that it was Deva time. Discovering two mines (one was blowing up in his face at the time), and an Intruder, he had a lot to digest, while going up against the Reaction Zond and teh Alquacil as well. After some very brashly spent orders, the Alqucil was down, the Intruder sniper was down and the Zond as well (crit and follow up shot). [I think I actually shot the Intruder first turm, as he tried to defend the Lt…]. To my amazement the Deva had no scratch. Wow.

His turn. The clockmacker came around and simply shot my Deva. Three hits, two wounds. He should let his Zonds at home next time. Then he started his activation sequence, but had some bad luck so it wasn´t too effective.

Turn 3

Eudoros smoked the way for the Deva hacker, towards the central objective. Still on his way the Deva was shot once by the decloaking Zero. She tried to kill it, but failed. Stretching her luck, she ran back into cover close to the next objective. It would be a close run next turn. I decloaked the Dasyu to get his order next turn.

His turn, same problem, hardly enough orders to achieve the mission. With his Spectre Hacker (now Lt.) decloaked, he got one order more in his pool next turn. Still he was reinforced by two Yuan Yuan (or was that second turn, I really should take more notes, next time), one got an Automedikit, the other a grenade launcher. His Zond ran to the next objective and survived some throwaway shots from my Mymrmidon with Spitfire. Also his Zero killed Eudoros, after a Yuan Yuan put a wound on him.

Turn 4

Now I am sure the Yuan Yuan came second turn, because I remember Eudoros gunning both down, with his impetious order. From which the one with Automedikit did recover.

My new Lt. makes a mistake and shots at the Zero out of range of his Shotgun, Ballistic class, should´ve listeneg I guess. All other orders go to the Deva who makes the run to the objectives, survives severel hits on the way, guns down the Clockmaker, gets the data and….. fails to triangulate. Darn Last order Down!

His turn.

The truly undead Yuan Yuan, storms over the container Chainrifles my Myrmidon, who Nanopulsers her back. She goes down, he does not. But she revives once more! What a tough gal!

His Zond is critted down on the way to the last objective. Phew. Win 5:4 by points. Close call there.

_____________________

Once more I got not promoted (probably because my Lt. keeps dying), and stuffed points in Logistics, so another bonus to promotion, next time.

On a side note. I love Impetious Eudoros as Lt. he really rocks.

Till then.
